Claire underwent a 3.5 hour surgery on Thursday. The surgery was a success in regards to removing the entire "questionable" area on the MRI scans. Claire experienced no complications and is recovering remarkably well.

In meeting with the neuro-surgeon after surgery the news was not what we were hoping for. The 'questionable" area was tumor and is believed to be a reccurance of the original diagnosis (SPNET).

We will be meeting soon with the Sutter team to discuss options as well as inquiring with our other medical contacts (UCSF, St. Jude and Oakland Children's).

Thanks for the thoughts, prayers, and support.

Everyone who knows Claire and your family is part of the Hope For Claire's Recovery Search and Rescue Team. Along with your love and sacrifice, the dedicated work of the good doctors & nurses, and the courageous Claire, the news you share today is a reminder to all of us that we have important work left to reach our goal, and we must not let discouragement impede our progress.

As sure as Christmas is in our hearts, so too is Claire. She is like the tiny angel atop the tree whose presence reminds us all that the spirit of Christmas is not something we buy, but rather something we give one another: love, friendship, and hope.

As Peggy & Al so beautifully stated... Claire is like an angel that tops the tree. I think its time for me to change the star that currently resides there. Claire has taught so many the true meaning of Christmas. We continue to pray and send our love.

We love you,
The Brushes

Thursday, Decemer 5th

Hi Claire!

What a wonderful surprise to see you at Baskin Robbins today. You looked beautiful in your party dress. I'm sure your Grandma had a tough time keeping up with you - you were such a bundle of smiling energy! Your mom is going to love all of the balloons that you were holding. Please tell her "Happy Birthday!" for me.

Wow, Claire was at Baskins Robbins! Way to go, what a recovery - this goes down in the Guiness Book of Records. Hope you had your favorite flavor - mine is kind of boring vanilla - but I bet yours is more exotic to match your personality, like bubble gum or rainbow gummy bear surprise.

Anyway, happy birthday to your mom. Getting ice cream with you was definitely one of her very BEST presents.

Love,
Lindi, Em and Dorian

Happy Birthday Shannon....God bless you this year with hope and Claire with renewed health. May your whole family rejoice in all the blessings that Christmas brings. The message in our church play this year was BELIEVE...in God and his amazing power to heal spirit and body. May He touch all of your spirits with hope and peace and Claire's body and make her well.

You all are a reminder to me of how precious life, love and family are...I BELIEVE.

Folks,

Know that our prayers are with you. We ask God to guide you in the best and sensible treatment for Claire. Again I suggest that at some point in the future you consider writing a book to guide and help other parents. God Bless Claire and your whole family.

Dear Claire,

I have been following your progress thru this ordeal. I want you and your wonderful family to know I pray constantly for your health. Walking thru the halls here at the clinic I see your photos on the walls. They make me smile. Tell your mom, dad, brother and sis I wish you a safe and healthy holiday. I'm here for you.
