Friday, January 12th

I know so many of you rely on the site for information on Claire. We have been busy enjoying Claire's time with us at home ( with a few hospital visits) and Shannon has not had time to update. Claire's recovery from her 2nd round of high dose chemo/stem cell rescue has gone well. It has been very special to have her home with us for an extended period of time. We anxiously await her January 22nd MRI, which will determine the status of the tumor and options for Claire's treatment. Keep her in your prayers and positive thoughts.

Dear Sweet Claire, after reading the December 27th posting I realized how hard of time this must be for you and your family. However remember there are many of us chanting you on and praying for you everyday, hoping for that Christmas Miracle to come true!! You are a strong girl and we all love you so much. Keep up the good progress and show us what you can do on January 22nd. Give your family love and strength. Love you,

Home is such a lovely place to be - for Claire, for any child. Most children don't realize this because that is where they always are. Claire must understand how special home is because she often has to sleep in other beds and not have her loving family there to greet her when she wakes up. Enjoy these days, the treatment is working, Claire grows stronger, and tastes again the simple, ordinary pleasures of everyday life at home. Parents, siblings, playmates, favorite places to sit & sleep & hide at home. Perhaps some speedbumps in the days ahead, but forward progress on the road to complete recovery.

Over the past 6 weeks, Andrew and I have been living with my parents while our house is having some work. Almost daily he says "I want to go home... I want my little bed ... I want my clouds (painted on his ceiling)". I can only imagine how much it must give you strength to be home in your own beds, and being a family together, and doing normal things. I am so happy to hear that Claire has been home for this extended period of time. We will keep prayers focused on the next MRI.

Love, Melanie and Andrew

You may already know this but just in case you don't. I heard on the radio this evening that Washington Hospital will be doing brain cancer treatments soon. Apparently there are just two other hospitals in the entire world that do a particular treatment that they will soon offer. I do not have any other information then this. The treatment is very specific to the tumor, your doctor probably already knows about it I assume. The best to Claire and every success, Rick.

So glad you posted a message again. I wasn't sure how you all were and was waiting to see before I talked to your Mom. I was so glad to see your message just before I saw your Mom and Sue Masson celebrating her birthday at Illahe. We think about you and are so glad you've had some good times together at home.
